Great until you lose your key or they damage the lock mechanism in an attempt to breach it. You get to keep your bike, but you can't ride it.

No problem, it isn't indestructible, only uncuttable. It will still melt when faced with an oxy-acetylene torch or thermic lance.

As we all know, if the crooks are determined enough they steal it.

Sadly it seems that anything is nickable, all the thieves need is enough time, the right equipment and big enough balls!
Walking around Bristol Waterfront on the weekend I saw 3 bike frames still locked up to railings/bike parks with everything stripped off of them. Literally just the frames left! Chains didn't look rusty so I cant imagine they have been there for a massive amount of time.

It might blunt an angle grinder, but what about some bolt cutters? If the matrix is only aluminium, I think it will slice through it.
