"World’s most efficient" bicycle drivetrain unveiled at Eurobike

Featured Replies

These might make their way into the E-Bike world

World’s most efficient

I recall seeing that article a year ago. Nothing appears to have come from it

And to be honest I can’t ever see it on an Ebike . You’d need a bespoke mid drive and frame just for this gear system . Which currently can’t actually shift !

Huge amount t of expense for a little efficiency gain which is all but redundant on an ebike. (I don't get their maths either , if a standard chain and cassette is 99% efficiency in lab conditions then how can that be improved by 49%?)

Just my tuppence of course !

And I do actually own a shaft drive ebike! Albeit not carbon or ceramic just good ole steel shaft and a alfine 8 hub (front hub conversion of course )

Saw a YouTube video of this ages ago, my opinion hasn't changed, might be fine in theory, but I'd like to see how it copes under load from a rider/motor.
If it's any good, they'll be using it in the Tour deFrance. Don't get too excited until then.
