I'm afraid that's not so in this forum, I surveyed our membership quite a while while ago with this posted result. The relative position hasn't changed dramatically since then, but I accept the female proportion will be higher among the non-enthusiasts who don't join forums like this:

We have 33 female members by name or who I know to be female, though there could be a few more under ambivalent names. That's just over 5% of the total membership, and 6% of the active membership. Altogether they've entered 402 posts, but many have a very low posting rate. At the top is Gaynor with 50 posts, closely followed by Maryinoxford, Fatmog and Fatgirl. Here's the complete list with numbers of posts:

Most popular names amongst male members appear to be Peter (not all shown as such) with 8 examples and Steve with 7 examples, though occasionally Steve can be used by a female of course.

As for the name Peter, I am quite surprised at how popular it appears to be, it crops up frequently in my customer database, but I'm not complaining, I welcome any customer names

The joint effort of Hatti and Lynda should be very similar to the Kudos Safari which has a large seat height adjustment range . It would need to be a bit lighter though and lose a few £`s .

Well, Hatti and I have just spent an extremely interesting evening putting the bike world to rights over a few Rose's......and I mean INTERESTING !!

We are collaborating over the design of a new special Ebike to be designed especially for the comfort of lady cyclists.
At the moment it is going under the pseudonym of the 'court barton'

We have lots of innovative ideas as to how this will progress, but welcome input from forum members ......and not just the ladies.....so if any of you have any different ideas about making women feel more comfortable whilst riding..... then please let us know

Meanwhile...watch this space and no doubt Hatti too will add her comments when she returns to Southend.

Lynda, Ref. your quote above, my teeth are so much nicer than his and I am prepared to send them postage paid both ways for you and Hati to check, also available are my left eye and my knee brace (please say if you want them washed before posting) you may keep the eye for a couple of days but I really need the brace to returned asap. Rather than make a "lady bike" why not go for unisex? It can still be comfortable.

I thought there were already plenty of unisex bikes on the market. They're called step-throughs !

PS - Lynda and Hatti are lovely but they want their comfortable shoes back !

Not only do you think that there are plenty of unisex bikes on the market, there actually is plenty on the market. Further to that, they are indeed sometimes refered to as step-throughs.

The abundance of the unisex bike, or step-through, rather than a gender specific bike will be something to do with the successful manufacturers recognising that slashing their potential market share by 50% isn't something that they want to do. In a way all bikes are unisex as plenty of women ride cross-bar bikes.

There seems to be very few gender specific bikes around and I don't think that their absence creates a gap in the market. The reason there are so few is because its a very small market, if it exists at all these days.

Back to our new bike design, the idea we have had so far is actually really innovative and to be honest would suit less fit men too so we will get on with refining it (a womans work is never delegated )

What we are working on tillson is not quite so much of a change in style.....after all, a bike is more or less a bike......its more the added extras.....
