I've been doing a lot of research (some of it here) about fitting a kit to a regular bike.

I am very happy with the quality of the electrics on my 905e, I've never had anything go wrong with them on nearly 3 years. So, what I would really like is to be able to fit a wisper kit... .the donor bike will in all probability have an alfine rear hub so the motor needs to fit the front wheel and have disc brake capability. The end product will hopefully be kind of like a 906alpino but with the donor bike of my choice.

I heard a little birdie whisper of a wisper kit... I wonder if anybody has any information they would care to share on the ifs and whens... :)

Have you identified a decent donor bike yet that will take a front hub motor? can you still have front suspension do you think?

Hi Chris

Thanks for your comments on the old 905e, it great to know you have had such good service.

As Dick says our Wisper Kit will be available in the Spring of 2010, it uses the new Dapush motor featured on the Alpino bikes with all the clever Dapush electronics. It will ustilise the existing brakes on your donor bike you simply need to fit our reed sensors to the brake levers. We will be using these on all Wisper bikes from the middle of next year.

We have spent a lot of time on the Wisper Kit and believe it will eclipse those already on the market, we are using carbon for the battery mountings and some of the casing so the unit will weigh very little considering the 36V 10A battery.

The battery will be mounted on the seat tube and will face forward so it sits in the triangle of the frame.

Due to some new design ideas we estimate the fitting time to be about 30 minutes initially but once the kit is fitted it will take very little time to change the front wheel and remove the battery case completely so you can enjoy the bike as a non electric again.

Due to patents and copyright I can't leak an image yet but as soon as I can I will certainly do so.

All the best

David

Sounds really good David, at last a seat tube forward mounted battery. It's always baffled me why that isn't done frequently, most going ahead of the seat tube opting for a triangular battery making the bike look motorcycle like.

David, thanks for the info, this was going to be a winter project but it looks like I will now be waiting until spring :)

I like the sound of fitting switches to your existing brake levers and the battery positioning.

As Dick says our Wisper Kit will be available in the Spring of 2010
I hope your confidence is rewarded David:) Speaking of electric bike suppliers in general I reckon a product due to be out in Spring means sometime during the following winter at the earliest! Problems in finalising design and dealing with suppliers in far off countries usually surface, though I realise that you are probably better placed than most. I look forward to seeing it (and the price!) anyway.

26 inches

Hi Andrew,

it is for 26 inches, if some customers have the requirment of 700C, Wisper can supply too.

Best regards,

Dick

The first production run will hopefully be in December so we anticipate the first kits arriving in February, thats why I use the term "the Spring", nice and woolly!! :)
