Wisper battery problem

Hi,
I've just sold my Wisper Torque via Ebay.
The seller is telling me the battery won't charge and wants to return the bike.As far as I was concerned it was sold as seen.
I only did 73 miles on the bike in a year. I charged the battery each week on the weeks I rode it. The battery was kept indoors all Winter. And it was charged just before I sold it. It showed a full charge on the bike's readout.
Is it very likely that the battery is now defective?
I feel a bit guilty but as far as I was aware there was no problem with it. For all I know the buyer may have damaged it.

The probability is that nothing is wrong except something the new owner is doing, so don't make any decision yet. I think we need a bit more explanation about what "not charging" means. Is the battery already charged? What's the battery voltage? Is the charger's green light on? Is there any voltage coming out of the charger?

Perhaps you should refer the owner to this forum so that we can figure out what's wrong before passing judgement.

why not ask the new owner to get David at Amps to check it over in order to extend the warranty which is well worth doing.
You could offer to pay the £25 to keep the peace.

Hi Lynn,

If the bike was sold on ebay, unless you offered a refund it would be unreasonable for him to ask you to take it back.

Why not suggest that he sends the battery to us for testing, we will be able to check the charging history and as long as the battery wasn't left flat for any length of time I would be surprised if there was anything much wrong with it. We would do the testing FOC.

If there is an issue with the battery such as loose connection, we would fix it FOC. We would only charge for delivery back to the customer.

Thank you everyone for your comments.
David I will suggest that he contacts you direct if this is OK?
I was wondering if he had changed his mind about buying it and was making excuses.
The battery has never been flat.
The buyer claims to have been in touch with someone at Wisper,this is what he wrote to me:

I have contacted them and they said that it could well be either a battery or charger. seems the charger reacts to charging then it'd likely be the battery. According to Wisper batteries need a rather delicate care, they never should be left flat for more than a couple of weeks, which I remember you said you didn't. What made them a little concerned that the bike only has got a low mileage throughout one year and thus the battery was not maintained well enough. This is my concern too - battery is not usable which is the second main component on the bike.
I feel pity about the situation as it wasted my time and lots of sweating riding the bike through some steep hills with a flat battery, thus making me want to return it back to you. I do hope you can understand how i feel.

Hi Lynne, that's practically what I said. The most common cause of battery failure occurs when the battery has been left flat for a period of time.
That's why we have a system that will let us see exactly when the battery has been charged during its life.

As you have charged the battery every month that won't be the case with this battery.

Please ask him to call me to so we can arrange a diagnostic test.

He will need to get the battery to me.

Thanks Danidl, we always do what we can to assist. The battery will probably be OK and we have the skills to sort out any problem there is, I don't like to see any unresolved problems with our bikes.
