I see Wisper are selling ex-showroom 905e bikes on the forum for £650 and on eBay for £600? with a reserve of £400. Sounds like a bargino, but why more expensive on the forum?

Hi John, it appears that with all 100's of bikes We have sold at Wisper, there has been very little or no problems at all anywhere in the UK. The only real problems have been with the bikes bought from germany, and this has been recent. Surely this speaks volumes.

Please call us direct if you need any answers the numbers are 01425 627641 or my personal mobile 0781 745 0101

Interesting point about buying Mercedes.
I bought a new Mercedes a few years ago and had the choice of buying in the UK vs importing. I chose to buy in the UK because of concerns about resale value and servicing costs.
If I'd known that Mercedes were supplying different quality products in different countries I'd have avoided them like the plague. Do you get my point Doug?

If I'd known that Mercedes were supplying different quality products in different countries I'd have avoided them like the plague.

They don't though, their products are the same, apart from trim variation availability, common to all makes.

The history of inflated UK Mercedes image and prices goes back to just after WW2 and the resulting wartime hatreds. German products weren't popular then as you'd imagine, and few would touch them at first.

Accordingly, Daimler Benz Mercedes cars were represented by Swan Motors in Bournemouth, run by a German born long time English resident who was an avowed nazi sympathiser. Since large sales were never going to be possible, he marketed them as luxury cars at very high prices and margins, a model which Mercedes themselves adopted when they took over marketing years later, the newly introduced Japanese products then being more the target for hate.

Meanwhile the image and prices of the same cars has been very different in Europe, Mercs often seen as taxis and family cars rather than the executive cars they are regarded as here.

The lower value of imported ones is common to all "grey" imports, it being seen in motorcycles as well as cars, and it results from warranty support doubts and the like, since manufacturers and agents commonly refuse to support warranties on those imports, ignoring consumer protection when necessary. The dealers also discriminate at times, able to spot minor differences which give away the grey imports.

We are certainly going 'off topic' here, but it's late.
I recently bought a 9 month old Merc from Mercedes Direct in the UK, in those first 9 months it lost over £5000 and cost me no more than an equivalent 2nd hand Ford or Vauxhall of that age.
I negotiated a 39 month warranty valid anywhere in Europe and if I continue to have it serviced by Mercedes, I get 30 years breakdown cover anywhere in Europe. Should see me out as long as my son isn't allowed to drive it:eek:

My point is goods sold in the EU should have warranty cover anywhere in the EU.
