There are actually two male connectors from the controller with red, yellow and black cores. One of these comes from the gland that also has the battery and motor connections. The other is from the gland that has a four sets of smaller diameter cables plus the two linking loops.

Of the two mating female connectors one is from the throttle and the other comes from a sensor on the chainwheel. As they are interchangeable am I right in thinking that the chainwheel sensor should connect to the battery control gland side?
Thanks

A continuity test won't tell you much. pull the hot melt glue off one side of the connector so that you can get at the metal terminals. Switch the bike on completely ready to go, then stuff your probes up the back of the connector until they touch the metal. Between red and black, you should have 5v. Between black and yellow, you should have 1.2v that increases to 3.8v when you twist the throttle.

Thanks everybody for your help. I've ordered a new throttle assembly from Wisper and am hopeful that will correct the problem
