My wife has started commuting on her new 705 SE this week (14amp same as 905) it's the bike she did not want or need.... waste of money e bikes etc........ I am now not allowed to look at it, let alone use it! and I paid for itlol

She got upset when I came in on it the other week and she normally gets upset about nothing!

anyway, her commute to Clapham is probably 8-10 miles return. She is normal weight, does not use the throttle much and when she gets back two battery lights are on and 3 out. that is, reading from bottom to top of 5 LEDs. the first is out, then 2&3 on and 4&5 out

not sure why first LED is out and that it appears the battery is half empty after such a short commute. Bike has probably only covered 100 miles.....

will charge it and check it in the morning before she leaves...

Has the battery been conditioned? The meter can rely on the battery being nearly emptied to establish a content zero point. If it hasn't been conditioned and nearly emptied after the first charge, the meter might think much more charge is the zero point.

not really.........I ran it till nearly flat when we first got it, then we were away on holiday so never got the chance.

so we need to run it till empty, only then recharge and then see if its OK?

It's certainly worth a try Eddie, two conditionings is the norm for these setups.

Just looked again (it has been charging for 3 hours) 4 lights on. the first still of. but when you turn the key of you get a red light on the first led which goes out after a while (have tried this twice)

this is looking like a battery problem do you think?

That is odd, certainly seems either a battery problem or a problem in the meter system.

Have left a message with Norman at Wisper this morning:confused:

Thanks Flecc!

Hello,

From the three Wisper bikes I have here this seems correct.

The bottom (red) light only comes on when you disengage the battery with the key.

There are then 4 green lights that indicate battery charge.

I don't know if the red light comes on when the battery is completely discharged - but your battery sounds like it is working normally.

Cheers,

Martin

Yes it seems so.........Dick from wisper contacted me explaining the situation, like you said the first LED is a red one and normally of until battery nearly empty. Odd that the manual does not explain this

Thanks Martin, that is an unusual arrangement, I don't know of it on any other e-bike.
