Hi All;

Putting a list together of important checks and considerations for riding in the winter. Can anyone think of anymore to add?

1) Consider changing to studded tyres for extra grip in snow and ice
2) Check your lights are up to the required standard and carry additional batteries
3) Carry a first aid kit for you and the bike! You won’t want to get stranded
4) Wear reflective gear for greater visibility
5) Invest in thermal and waterproof gloves to keep your hands warm
6) Always take your battery inside to charge and make sure it is above 0 degrees else you could do it some damage
7) Expect to achieve a lower range, circa 15%-25%

In connection with number 3, those who don't always carry their mobile phone probably should in Winter. Getting stranded then in very bad conditions could make it's availability very welcome.

Well - the bike need some preb too. For cables not to frezee up they need to be olied before frost sets in.
All bolts and bare alu parts can be sprayed with liquid wax etc. to protect from salt / corrosion.
