My Agattu is 49cm and I am considering an upgrade to a Macina cross 10 . The nearest frame size is 51cm. Will I be ok with this? I haven't been able to try one as local shops only seem to stock larger sizes. I'm 5 ft 7 with short Scottish legs!

Usual Agattu sizes are 45(or 46)cm = small and 50cm = medium. At 5'7" would normally recommend the small. I've never seen 49cm but perhaps this was available on older versions. So, chances are 51cm would be a bit on the large side. Do they do a smaller frame?
Musicbooks, If there is a way in which you could scoot up to Swindon, Emotion EVC have a very large selection of bikes....including several KTM demonstrators.
Last week I popped in there for a quick drool over a drop-dead-gorgeous KTM E-Compact. Whilst there, they told me of the KTM practice of shifting machines between participating shops in order to satisfy customers requirements. As I understand, KTM dealers regularly inform Col, who posts on this forum, which unsold KTM machines they have in stock. With the knowledge of every unsold KTM's location, Col then facilitates the movement of those machines around the dealers. The idea being, any machine sold is the current specification of that particular model.
After looking at the model you mention, the Macina Cross, I notice it has a steeply sloping top tube, so the stand-over height of the 51cm should not be a problem for you. If you prefer a tip-toe touch-down whilst seated, you would need to try the machine to be sure.
If you decide to travel up to Swindon, providing it was in the AM and not pouring with rain, I would quite happily guide you up to Blunsdon hill. This would be a ten mile round trip (not many hills in Swindon) and, at 18% maximum slope it is nothing like the hills you encounter in Bath. If you would prefer a longer ride, I could take you on a fifteen miles 90% traffic-free ride taking in Lady lane (12%) and then Blunsdon Hill at 18%.

Couple of quick additions from our side. 51cm might be a bit large and we do the macina cross in a standard flat top tube or a dropped top tube.
Best to sit on one if you can or use the geometry chart on our website to compare to your current bike as all brands measure sizes in different ways.

I think the easiest thing for me to do is to call in again to the dealer in Bath and see if he can source me a 51 and a 46 to compare sizes.. I think I'm probably at the limits with a 51 cm. I don't think the cross bar will be the prob, but I don't like too much of a stretch to the ground.

No substitute for sitting on the actual bike because sizes from maker to maker vary a little bit.
And don't forget to take wheel and tyre size into account, if that's changing for the new bike.
When I returned to regular cycling I tried a couple of bikes in Halfords for size.
An 18" suited me just right, 17" was too small and 19" was manageable, which goes to show an inch does make quite a difference.

We have sold out of the Macina Cross 8 in all but the big sizes, so I'm afraid if you wanted stock you'd be looking for a dealer who has stock now. A new bike called the Macina Cross 9 is being built in week 36, which is early september. But your dealer would have to order fast to get one of these.
The rest of the Macina Cross range is built in October.
