I share some others low opinion of "Which" testing and their obvious biases. In this instance they seem to have produced am almost exact copy of the Extra Energy test results, another biased organisation favouring European products over Chinese ones and making many mistaken assumptions.

They even tested climbing on 6%, exactly what Extra Energy did, which is a joke. 6% isn't a real hill, it's just a very gentle slope, no challenge for any e-bike and certainly not an adequate test for crank drives.

For me most Which tests are the blind leading the blind, since they cannot possibly have a sufficient range of knowledge and experience to test and adequately report on such a huge range of diverse products.
.
They share reviews with other consumer organisations across the EU and I agree that they are often poor at reviewing high tech products and often way out of date. I've noticed this with high end cameras, hi-fi and TVs.

But it was good so see that they are alerting readers to the rise and benefits of ebikes, we're way behind many EU countries in this respect.

Grist to the mill.

You might argue that if you knew absolutely nothing about electric bikes their best buy recommendation motor battery and display combination of a bike with a Bosch Active line + with an intuvia display and 500Wh battery is one of the best crank drive combinations for general cycling.

Wash my mouth out with soap.

However how they have decided that my Yamaha PW motor provides no "hill support" as they describe it beats me as it can climb like a goat on steep technical off road climbs.

The torque sensor system on the Yamaha is known to require rider effort to unlock its assistance, however, and this might be what they mean. As someone who is not looking for a free ride this suits me in my quest to retain a modicum of fitness.

I am probably just upset they put it last.

Which? , like the ironically named "trustpilot" , is pay for your ratings. Don't trust either of them.
Trustpilot is a waste of space but Which? is a very reputable consumers association and certainly doesn't take payments for good reviews.

Which? Doesn’t take payment for anything except for you to read the magazine and certainly not from manufacturers. Also they are not looking for ratings from anyone except themselves.
