Test it with a bridge if you're doubtful.

I did. I got error 25 (abnormal brake start up). 3rd wire must be needed so it can't be a simple microswitch I guess. It is all beyond me really so ordering a proper one from Yose in case I damage something. Thanks for the help anyway.

There are only two wires attached to that switch. You get error 25 when the switch is on at the time you switch on the controller. It's a safety measure. Normally the switch would be off when you switch on the controller with the brake in its home position holding the switch actuator down.

To test, you switch on without the bridge, see that the motor is working, then insert the bridge and see that the motor stops.
