See if you can test a Haibike at your nearest stockist. You may be surprised that it's not the heavy Behemoth that you think it is.
I did test one but it was more of a commuter bike. And with Yamaha engine. That bike felt really nice! Felt much better than my Scott e-sportster. Especially after the assist limmit.

That one is a hot candidate!

But it has the 400Wh battery. The Haibike comes with the new 500Wh. That is a really nice package.

But the KTM has more "appeal" [emoji39]
What country are you in. The 2016 versions of the bike come with CX and 500w battery.

If you're in the UK, the 250w one has an RRP of £3549.99 (on page 19 of the brochure)

If you're in Germany, the 350w one is available. (page 15)

cant you buy the 350w in the uk then?

yes and no,

Yes, its not illegal to sell them, so any dealer can buy one of us, and in turn a customer can buy one.

The problem is.... should one be involved in an accident liability passes up the supply chain, because these are not CE certified as a bicycle and therefore can not be used anywhere other than private land with no public access.

So if someone does buy one, they have to be able to show the dealer they have access to a private estate to use it on, and then in turn the dealer has to provide us with the information before we'll sell it.

So in practice no... you can't buy them. Because so far in the 12+ months we've been doing these sPedelecs no one has been able to prove they can use one legally, and thefore we've not sold any.

Its called responsible selling, but its also called protecting our own business because we could be taken down if one of these was involved in an accident.

Any shop selling these is taking a massive risk, so we've made the decision to educate our dealers about the risk, and then once they know the risks, they don't want to sell them.

Just as anyone considering riding one, should check the risks... because if you actually check.... you wouldn't risk it.

The KTM Panasonic hub bike and any Kudos/Oxygen bike with the BPM motor are all 250 watt legal and very strong hill climbers...there is little point in going illegal to produce a strong hill climbing bike....any bike that has a King Display can be set to give the maximum cutoff speed at the limit of the motor speed...for most 26" wheeled bikes that is 19 mph and 29 ers 23 mph, provided that the country you are using the bike allows these powered speeds....of course,in the UK,that makes the bike illegal but it is your choice to take the risk, and keeps the mph display correct.
After that you should be buying a motorbike.

I am in Sweden.

We have a new law coming up in the end of this year.

That law says that a new bicycle "class" will be allowed. Up to 1000W engine and 45km/h speedlimit. The bike should have a licenseplate and the "driver" must be at least 16 years old and have the same drivninglicense as for a EU moped in class 2.

This makes the 350W KTM even more interesting!

Regarding the new Bosch engines. Is it still the all the same (gears and so on) on the 250W and the 350W.

If someone like to know. I bought me a Haibike Sduro Allmtn Plus. It's a preorder because the bike is 2016. So if I am lucky I get the bike around March 2016.
