Which folding bike?

I’m new to the whole concept of electric bike, my hubby uses an electric scooter (goped) to take his dog for a walk as he’s disabled (hubby not the dog) and I would like to join him and improve my fitness, however I can not keep up on foot, my dog due to illness can’t walk far so we both want to join them.

I decided on getting a bike, well my fitness is non existant (I also have asthma but that is only a mild hinderance) at the moment and there are quite a few hills around here. Then there is the question of taking said bike away with us when we use our caravan which we do from April to end of October so I thought folding electric bike, great but which one, now there is the crux of the matter.

Basically I’m looking for a folding bike that is quiet, it doesn’t, have to be swift, speed is not my thing, but needs to be able to help me (at the mo a lot) getting up the hills and I need to be able to carry my wee 3.5 kg dog either in her Basil rear bike basket or be able to tow a mini dog ride bike trailer.

These are the ones I’ve looked at (on-line I admit) but quite frankly I’m all at sea as to what the technical stuff means I’ve been reading reviews etc and studying the threads on here and quite frankly I’m non the wiser I just don’t quite grasp what it all means in a practical way.

If you have any thoughts or can at least give me a hint as to what would be best for my purposes as far as motor battery frame ect would be I’d appreciate it.

I’m definitely leaning towards this one as maybe a taster model as it’s not to expensive and one can always move upwards.

, the more I look and read about the various models the more fuddled I become and unsure as to what would do the job I want it for the best. I’m not looking for the cheapest but the one that will fit the bill.

I fully intend to go test ride a few but I thought I’d try to pick your brains to get a bit of help in the right direction before that.

Sorry for the long winded ramble but I’m quite excited about being able to get out and about with hubby. I hope it was okay to post the above links.

Hi Morag and welcome

The folder you are " leaning to " has never been on sale at £799,I hate these lies in advertising.I think its still over priced at £499 and maybe £399 is nearer its true value. If you do not want to have to change the bike soon after theres a good quality bike with full support thats about to be launched. Its a couple of hundred quid more but a different ball game.Send me a private message if you want more info.

I have a cyclamatic foldaway and am pleased with it so far. I think it is very similar to most other folders on the market that cost in the £700-900 region.

If you can afford to wait it may be possible to use one of the many discount codes that sportshq seem to have most weeks, someone on here will usually post the code number as there are quite a few cyclamtic owners on here now.

Usually in this section. I paid £399 for mine which was the going price at the time, I'd just missed an offer where they were down near £300 and after buying missed a couple of 10% offers, however I think this created a bit of a demand and imagine that is the reason for the £499 price now.

Yes I find it very quiet, I imagine if you do a search you'll unearth a few of the threads on the bike.

Thanks hun, I've read a few things on here about them and Dave has been a great help to hence the leaning towards it. I'll keep my eye's peeled for any discount codes.

I suppose if you subscribe to their newsletter you'll get details of the offers direct from them :)

Doh why didn't I think of that.

Mind you folks I'm still open to any other suggestions of make and model.
