Welcome Michael

Your Halfords bike battery is rated at 36 volts and has a capacity of 8.7 Amps/hour.

The Halfords charger you link is for a 36 volt battery and will charge it at 2 Amps/hour, so it'll take roughly 4 to 5 hours to fully recharge a reasonably flat 8.7Ah battery.

Provided the plug on the Halfords charger fits the socket on your battery, it's the correct one. If in doubt, take your battery into Halfords and just check with them, because there have been a few changes over the years.

You'll likely find the same charger on Amazon and Ebay though at a lot less cost.

2a charge rate is pretty much the norm and is correct, lithium batteries for ebikes can't handle a fast charge without damage. Unlike a car they can't take a 20 or 30 minute charge to 80% because they only have a very small fraction of the battery cells.

Hi Gazza

You need to be more specific: Do you mean a 5-pin for a Pendleton battery that looks like this one?

Yes exactly like that it's the original one that cam with the bike.
Apart from @Sturmey's suggestion above...

Halfords still sell original replacements for your bike/early Pendletons here.

And there's ebikebatteries (well regarded on this forum) who sell a version here. This version claims some ability to recharge even those batteries that otherwise appear dead (below the BMS cut-off).

Hi All
Thanks for the help.
I'm going with @cyclebuddy as the battery hasn't been used for a while and the issue could be low charge level.
Cheers
