Which Chain? - Woosh Rio MTB

I've now put about 1,730 miles on my Woosh Rio and recently the gears have been misbehaving. When I change up or down sometimes it doesn't change at all, and then it will jump 2 or 3 gears at once. I asked the resident bike expert here at work and he said I need a new chain.

Now, I have never had to buy a chain for a bike before so don't know the difference between a good one and a bad one. Or what length of a chain to buy?

With the extra weight of an electric bike do I need a more heavy duty chain?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

KMC X8, 118 links.
You can use any 8-speed chains.

I'm on the Chain Reaction site and they have two KMC X8 chains, but they both have only 114 links?

yes.
most bikeshops have KMC chains on reel, ask them to make one 117 links + 1 missing link.
you don't need any special quality, as long as it's for 8-speed.
if they have rustfree chains, go for it.
