12AH 30Q cells is the lightest battery. It can give all the current you need. you should get a range of between 20 and 50 miles depending on how much power you use.

Thanks both. I want maximum range for a long trip. I’m planning on doing LEJOG so some days of 90 miles. Plan to use the Xiongda YTW-06 with max 13a controller so not huge power draw. Also want to keep weight to minimum. Thinking of 10SP5 - 17.2ah pack from ENERpower.

90 miles will still be a tall order from 17.2 ah on a normal bike unless you can do a lot of unpowered riding on flat routes or use very low assist quite a bit.
I managed 93 miles with a 15a controller but had 24ah of cheap Samsung cells, at the time the cells were brand new.

I have an inkling to try the 35E but it would be in 6 or 7P configuration as a soft cell build.

I hope to do as much unpowered as possible, only using assist on the hills.

Sounds good. I’m sure that 20700 or 21700 cells will soon be the go to cells of choice from what I’ve been reading.

I calculated that they are only 2€ more than the 30Q for more than a third more Ah so money wise they make sense.

They are looking like a good option less cells = less weight even though a cell is a bit heavier. Less cells for more ah and a smaller pack as well. Mooch at e- cigs rates them as 16a cell.
