Where to find those tiny connector types ?

In order to modify the PAS ( Pedal Assist Sensor ) I’m using with my controller , I need to modify the connector end on the side of the PAS ( see photo ) , which mean cut , undo , re use , switch in , etc…with lots of care and patience ….

The final result is a failure as seen on photo…so now if I want to buy this type of connectors male or females ( photo 9170bis )….i don’t know what they are called …I looked up at tycoelectronics that have a wide variety in their catalogue …but no success …does anyone know what are they called and where to find by the unit or in very small quantity ?

Of course I could change the whole wire, that can easily be removed from the PAS ( photo 9221bis ) , but I don’t find any…

Any advise ?

Unfortunately there are hundreds of different kinds of connectors similar to those, but all with minor differences that make them incompatible. It is unlikely that you will be able to find connectors that will mate with your existing ones so it will probably be best to replace both parts with an available type, or simply solder the joins and eliminate connectors, and the reliability issues that go with them altogether.

RS Components in England have the largest range of components, including connectors that I know of. They are really a trade supplier but I have on occasions purchased from them without problems.

Why don;t you just cut both block connectors off and connect the wires together with 3 small bullet connectors?

tks for both above advices , but i want to keep the original type of connector so that in the future if i try new motors or PAS or controllers i use what seems to be the ordinary chinese mini connector standard ...it has the quality of being very small and that's vevy convenient if the available space is limited ...using 3 bullet terminals would take too much space inside the electronic compartment where the controller and wirings arrive all together ...

As Ian said, these are not in any way standard, only the outline design is. There are huge numbers of variants in the latches, body widths, thicknesses and connections. It's not unusual to find three or four different types on one bike design.

in sincerity i believe there is a dominant standard in the chinese e bike industry, fast-in fast-on automotive connectors for Hall & motor leads and/or Bullet connectors, and for 90% of the apparatus to be connected to the controller ( brakes, pedal sensors, power throttle , power displays ...) the mini type of connector here in photo 9234 seems the dominant standard ( mostly in 2 or 3 pins or sometimes 4 pins , male and female of course )

I agree that's the type used in those applications, but in so many body variations and latching configurations that finding replacements is difficult. For example, I've even known the same make of bike have a replacement throttle supplied with an apparently identical connector, but with the latch or directional groove unaccountably on the other side of the body and incompatible. That's what we mean by the variations, which sometimes seem to be infinite.

I think compatible ones are used on different bikes. For example, I was able to re-use one I'd cut off my Tongxin when fixing the wiring on my Suzhou Bafang Wisper. However I've never seen them being sold anywhere.

If you try new motors or controllers, you will almost certainly find that they do not have the same type of connector. As has been said, the variety of connectors is huge and there is certainly no "ordinary standard" on Chinese anything. Keeping the original conector type is therefore pointless if you are doing so in the mistaken belief that other motors or controllers will simply connect up.. I appreciate what you've said re connector size, but there are very small connectors available which are more than adequate for the wire size and there is no way that space can be that restricted around the controller. Usually, a lot of space is taken up by coiled up control wires which are too long to start with. Shortening these cables would free up more than enough for three tiny connectors....

If, as you say, they are the industry standard connectors, how come you can't find any?

You're having a problem finding the right block connector, correct? You asked for advice here. The advice is that they're usually all different and there is no 'industry standard'. You've responded with an interesting statistic which doesn't in any way prove that there is an industry standard connector (just lots of bike sales) and, presumably, you still don't have one of them.... correct? I suppose you could always go to China for one then......:)

Your best bet is to use small bullet connectors. I know this because I did it on mine... space is restricted but they do fit, especially if you reduce excess cable length in the controller compartment.

I have two, seemingly identical, Chinese made throttle assemblies. Both have very similar, but incompatible, small three way connectors. Both of these connectors are similar, but sufficiently different as to make them incompatible, to common Western connectors.

Based on my small sample, I suggest that the comments made about the multitude of variations amongst Chinese connectors is most probably correct!
