Where does the hall sensor go?

Sorry for such a basic question!

Ive just bought a Yose Power 36v250w kit https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/36V250W-Electric-Bicycle-Hub-Motor-Conversion-kit-26-quot-Front-wheel-E-bike-kit-/222254691677?txnId=2195743236012 and I'm using a 36v15a battery https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/36V-15Ah-Li-ion-Electric-E-Bike-Battery-Pack-Bicycle-Silver-Lockable-2A-Charger-/113222458997?varId=413517693377&txnId=1911295839001

The motor doesn't work using the throttle. The LCD display comes on fine. The front light, two brake levers, and the hall sensor that came with the kit aren't installed/connected. Would this explain why the motor doesn't come on?

Also, can someone explain where on the bicycle the hall sensor actually attaches? (I think it's a hall sensor in the attached picture at least?!) Do I need to remove the right hand side crank and put it there. Sorry for being so clueless!

Yup - the missing pedal sensor (hall sensor) is probably why it isn't working.

According to the packing list on the ebay site, the sensor goes onto the LEFT hand crank.
Pull the crank off and push the sensor into place. If it's on the wrong side (or the wrong way round) the motor will run when you pedal backwards.

**DO** fit the brake levers (or get suitable switches if you have hydraulic brakes) - bit dangerous otherwise!

Throttle and PAS work independently of each other so one should work if other isn't fitted. Your throttle issue isn't because PAS sensor not fitted but because P4 parameter is set for use only after pedal rotation so is value 1, if you want independent throttle use set P4 to value 0.
You should always fit PAS sensor as otherwise throttle only gives 100% power all the time and drains the battery quickly reducing range and stressing cells. PAS gives you 5 assist levels all giving varying power/torque as and when required.

All a Hall sensor does is act as a switch in the presence of a magnet, they are used for throttle,brake, speed and motor sensing.
