Forum posters come and go but some who were quite prolific or regulars just disappear off the scene.

Eddie PJ what ever happened to him, we know he became a product reviewer for one of the big emtb brands but just quietly disappeared.
KirstinS suddenly just dropped off the scene.
Tony aka Anotherkiwi I know moved to another specific forum for e-bent riders as I think he went as far as he could here.
Cwah was good value we had many a chuckle as his expense, it has been a while since he was down sizing with items for sale.

Any others of late we can ask where and why.

I guess there are are many reasons for this. As an example, I suffered a bereavement which literally changed my life. One might expect that the e-biking and its associated socialising might offer some sort of distraction, but it didn't and even now, as the owner of 3 ebikes I find myself making excuses not to ride them.
At this time after nearly 3 years I am trying to rekindle my interest or I will end up with a garage full of wasted expensive machines.

EddiePJ had a long running disagreement with a prominent poster who often posts on the same subjects as you Neal, so that might have a bearing.

The loss of KirstinS is a complete mystery since he was a regular and enthusiastic poster. However after frequent posts there was a gap of three months between his last two posts, so perhaps interest was waning.

Cwah was getting rid of his e-bike and I suspect is no longer riding one.

Over the 14 years and six months of this forum we've lost a huge number of regular posters,. mostly seeming to lose interest after a while though often still e-biking. From time to time one of them pops back after many years to say hello and I welcome them back, but it's usually only a visit without posting.

I just plucked a random old thread from when the pedelecs site was only 20 months old. Posters in it that were prominent back then are now almost completely missing though sometimes visit without posting. Here's a sample from that thread:

Tiberius (Nick), a scientist with over 900 posts who built his own bike from a rewelded frame up for the last Presteigne e-bike race and won that and the hill climb. Last posting in March 2010, he visited in October 2010 but was using Endless Sphere more then.

fishingpaul with nearly a 900 posts. Posted regularly to 2018 then disappeared for two years until an isolated 2020 query, though visited to look in January 17th 2021

JamesC, a helper with methodically arrived at solutions for obscure problems. Last posted 2015 but visited to look in March 16th 2021.

coops (Stuart), a prolific poster from the start of the forum for two years to the last post September 2008, but visited to look in on July 17th 2015.

Django (Struan) who created our Members map originally, joined in the earliest days of pedelecs and last posted February 2011. He visited to look in on March 27th 2021.

JohnInStockie, another regular with over a 1000 posts from these early days, he last posted on August 12th 2011 but visited to look in on July 14th 2020.

Note how they often pop back in without posting to see how we are getting on

Here's the link to that 2008 post

I know Kirstin has 4 little ones so life may have taken over a bit and kept him very occupied other wise.

Hi Neal and all !

Glad to see the forum is still frequented and a font of knowledge.

My interest in ebikes absolutely remains and is my primary form of transport as well as leisure uses. However, the four kids ,new jobs and needs of ageing parents and in laws have left me needing 9 days in a week to keep up. I shuttered my side line in ebike repair and quit fettling for fun.

In part the two ebikes I now have are exactly what I want and so I've felt no need to keep striving for more. One is the shift drive 700c afline 8 commuter /hybrid with a woosh front hub and the other is a titanium hardtail with high torque BBS and alfine gearing. Beyond upgrading to a rolhoff which I can't afford there really is nothing for me to upgrade other than consumables as they wear out.

Anyhow, a big hello to all. I owe the knowledge I have pretty much entirely to the time and efforts of forum members

Cheers

Nice to here you are still going K, I know with the twins and the two slightly older nippers you had your hands full. And I know how your time is limited with ageing parents.
My wife is the same with her parents most of her days are spent looking out and caring for their needs now that both are pretty well dependant on her and prior to lockdown and during the first two years of covid she was a her gran's permanent carer for three years until she like the queen became frail and died.

Very glad to hear from you but sorry to hear of your wife's family and gran. I wish you and her the best, it can be really tough at times.

Twins are now 6 and eldest are 13 and 10 respectively. So we are coming out the other side ! I think I dropped out as they hit 18m/2

Wait til you have grand kids on scene. More of them, you have less influence and you still worry about "the kids" that gave them you.
Mind you, you can fill them up with E numbers, powerade and chocolate before sending them home, to get your own back for all those sleepless nights.!!!
