I have a cyclotricity revolver which is controlled by a simple lcd dashboard on the handlebars. For a long time it has a habit of not always switching on when required or otherwise switching off in mid ride and not being able to switch on again. The batterylevel lcd lights can show 4 bars and yet moments later it will switch off and when pressing on it doesn't work. Come back the next day and it may switch on and the whole process happens again. Last year had halfords test the battery which was alright. Otherwise I have removed and reconnected all the connectors etc. I am wondering if this might be the handlebar lcd control console. Any ideas or suggestions most appreciated.

Could be the display or maybe more likely a wire or interrupted battery contact issue whilst in the receiver.
Are the battery contacts in a good state or pitted /corroded.
One could try a continuity check on the wiring, a faulty or broken wire will cause an interrupted supply. Any cause may not be simple but a process of trying to eliminate the source.

It's very simple. The LCD works completely independently from the rest of the bike. It's connected directly to the battery. When it goes off, there are three reasons I can think of:
1. The battery supply has been interrupted. You can confirm that by monitoring the voltage on its connector with a voltmeter in real time.
2. It's faulty. That's normally water in it or cables pulled to compromise solder joints. If it only switches off after a ride in the rain, it's water.
3. It's going to sleep because it has a sleep timer and no speed signal. That should be obvious because the LCD will show speed as zero.
