I've had a wet one...

I was soaked over the weekend by riding in a deluge for 30 minutes, the good news was that it was quite exhilarating, the bad news is I was wearing my wet weather gear at the time. On the plus side my hi-vis jacket was pretty good, didn't have that boil in the bag feeling. But my nylon shower proof (old, cheap and nasty) trousers were useless and my feet were soaked.

So simple question, what wet weather gear do you use for legs/feet? and/or what would you recommend?

A cycle cape is excellent in a deluge. You can get them from Wilkinsons. The Aldi one is very good when they do them, otherwise look on Amazon and Ebay. You want one without sleeves that goes right over the handlebars. They keep you and the bike dry, and most important of all, you don't sweat, so you stay dry from the inside too. Forget about the expensive breathable suits. They make you sweat because they're too warm in the summer.

This one looks pretty good, but a lot more expensive than the Aldi one.

They're not so good in very strong winds.

Think about your lights too if you're going to ride at night. Some have a clear panel in the front for the light.

I'd never considered a cape before, looks good since it covers much of the bike, legs and feet too.

Silly question but how do you indicate for a turn?, can you easily put an arm out?

I dont bother with wet weather clothing, i just wear what i happen to be wearing.
I do have a waterproof layer underneath though, my skin.
