Although this unique speed tuning device leaves no physical evidence of being used, we are proffesionals, we have our ways of detecting the use of all de-restriction dongles not just the badassebike device. So be honest with us if you have utilised such devices, we don't like surprises and nor will you. There may be extra labour and service charges if you fail to mention use of a dongle and we find evidence of de-restriction.

At least Col's campaign managed to stop e-bikeshop selling dongles...on the same page as the bikes.

And no doubt Badass are also running scared, or maybe not.

It'll take a few weeks I'm sure as some of the problem dealers try it on with the brands to see what they can get away with.

Raleigh / Haibikes wording is very strong.

"With immediate effect Raleigh UK ask that all stockists of Raleigh, Koga and Haibike Electric provide clear and proactive information on de-regulation for your customers both on your website and instore. This information must make the legal, safety and warranty implications of riding de-restricted bikes illegally very clear and should be displayed prominently i.e. on your website home page not in hidden in FAQs and on the counter not under the counter in-store.

In addition with immediate effect, Raleigh UK reserves the right to de-list any stockist found to be fitting or selling derestriction devices to consumers for use on UK public roads / cycle paths / trails"

So if you've been watching, you'll have seen that eBike shop took the dongles off the Scott bikes immediately when asked, but it took a good few weeks for them to respond to Raleigh's request. Now we can all see that these dealers are still selling dongles to their customers pressure will be re-applied.

All the brands have said they will be policing this, and this includes phoning up asking for dongles and sending people in to see if the shops are still selling them in store. Any shop found to be ignoring the requests will find their supply to stock drying up pretty quickly

There are a couple of shops who might not like this, but I'm afraid its happening, because its for the good of the brands, the dealer network and the end consumer.
