It's only today that I've coincidentally noticed d8veh isn't posting so ran a search. It seems the last time he posted was 13th September, almost two months ago. What if anything happened?

As for me, I only pop in about once each day, mainly to see if anyone wants to go into the members map since I'm the only one maintaining that now, but also posting on odd occasions. I passed the 30,000 posts mark a few days ago.

I've worked in other subject forums at various times over the years and for a while now mainly with another interest, dealing with identification inquiries for the Natural History Museum, mainly "bugs" in the broadest sense but also fungi.

I'm pretty sure he's OK, and posting on ES. I've got a feeling he views threads here from time to time.

I've considered starting a thread to tempt him out into the open.

Something like 'Hub drives are rubbish at climbing hills, everyone should get a CD'.

d8veh was a very knowledgeable poster. Nothing wrong with missing him being an active poster on here AFAIC.

He had a disagreement with Col of KTM, but it was nothing very heated. I think he was growing disillusioned with the forum mainly because a few here don’t really like illegal bikes, and some tend to educate new e bikers who show in posts that they don’t know their off road from their elbows.

Thanks John. Sometimes it's good to get a break from the forum, especially after long periods of answering large numbers of posts. Dave (d8veh) has taken breaks a couple of times before in 2011 and 2012.

But yes, i appreciate we've been pretty active recently... but I thought an active forum was the aim of everyone on here isn't it?. If there was just 4 of you all agreeing on things it would be pretty dull.

Also I am luckily enough to have been able to have a few face to face conversations with Dave in the real world, so I'm confident he won't have left here just because he couldn't win a debate with me

I have been PMing with another member who has not posted for a while on here as well about pas sensors conversions and d8veh has joined the conversation so I it looks like he is keeping up with the goings on and is just getting on with his life and probably other interests.
You never know d8veh may resume again in the near future, there is another member though who could do with a long over due break though more of a troll then member.

We were on the phone to MBR on Friday, they are loving the bike... But not so much the attitude of some cyclists. Apparently their tester actually got spat at recently whilst riding at a trail centre. Not good.

Must be because of that long letter a bloke wrote to the magazine trying to get mountain ebikes banned.

Or was he trying to get them allowed?

Either way, the letter drew attention to, and raised the temperature of, a sensitive issue.

Which led to a predictable result from the pig ignorant numpty who spat at the guy riding the ebike.
