After trying to familiarize myself with the new updated site, I have to admit that its a huge thumbs down and find something has been lost from the old set up, and feel less inclined to be active on site:(

Lynda, if you're using Firefox, you'll find the fonts and bold settings in Tools/ Options. In Internet Explorer under Tools / Internet Options / General / Appearance, fonts, etc...
Not sure about the others at the moment, but nearly all browsers have a global setting for fonts and boldness for exactly this reason you have run across.

I'm spreading my browsing across a few - FF is a pita as a memory hog but it handles photos nicely and is set up to do so accurately, so that's the one I use for photographic sites. Also here, because it kills the background pic.

Iron is on here in preference to Google Chrome, as GC was too intrusive, whereas Iron is stripped and simple and fast.
Iron is a good GP browser, I find.

Opera is used for other stuff from time to time but I tend to reserve it with a set of saved sites that open up all at the same time and the settings are just how I like them.

Lastly, IE is only there for a few sites that are badly written and don't play properly with the others.

Thanks Dave, Im using Chrome so will have a look at altering settings but Im not particularly computer savvy, actually, I am a bit lazy about learning.....as long as I know how to send emails. use skype and buy stuff online Ive been happy.
I could really do with meeting a nice computer wizz kid man :)

Hi Lynda,

Sounds like the main issue for you is the text not being dark enough and if the text in other websites appear to be OK, then it is not a fault with your laptop rather this site that is the problem.

I notice that when typing, the text is blacker than it is in existing posts, so maybe this is something that admin need to rectify rather than have loads of people fiddling with their settings for just one website.

No, you didn't lose that "Maybe" Lynda, I'd never posted it in the first place!!! It was obviously caused by a site glitch since it had none of the footing entries, Report, Like, Reply, so was incomplete. There was no name text under my icon either. Where it came from I've no idea, but I managed to delete it after some juggling to find an edit that I could use.

It would appear on reflection that the new site is rather like the Curate's egg.

Since I'm getting close, perhaps the site is trying to help me get to 26,000 posts by adding a few at random!
It's the Law of Agregate Posting. Once a critical mass is reached, your posts become sentient, and start writing themselves:D
