VLCD5 defect?

Trouble with my VLCD5 display.

1. For some reason the i-button on my VLCD5 unit presents problems:
In normal mode pressing it repeatedly runs through three display options: ODO-->TRIP-->AVG and then I am blocked. No way to move forward nor backward. Only way out is to power cycle the unit after which the same anomaly happens.
Similar issue when trying to access the "hidden configuration menu": after pressing i-button and power button together for 10 seconds then you have to press the i-button 4 times to get to the hidden menu. But after pressing it two time I get to AVG and then I am stuck as before so never make it to the hidden menu.

2. Speed.
No speed reported.
Changing the VLCD5 for XH18 I do see speed reported on XH18 so I conclude the magnet is working and cabled correctly
(No room to fit the XH18 that is why I want to use the VLCD5...)

3. Assistance level
Using the VLCD5 I can correctly set the assistance level: OFF-ECO-Normal-Turbo

4. Light switch
Works OK on VLCD5: screen lights up and front/back lights work as expected.

Has anyone seen such VLCD5 behaviour with i-button and speed? Did you resolve it and how?
Can VLCD5 be reset to factory defaults? How?
Any idea that comes to your mind to help me out?

Sounds like the unit is defective, maybe through moisture ingress. If you are brave enough, careful opening and say putting out in the sun, might drive off any moisture....
Long shot, but easy to find out!
