Viking Mtt tobin charge/startup problems

Hi Everyone.

I am trying to help a friend sort out his MTT Tobin Viking E-bike.
Been working fine, then would not power up. Has a Hailong 36Volt battery.
It has a sleep mode on the battery, but the owner's manual gives no useful information about this.
When the charger is plugged in Light on the Charger is Green, but nothing seems to happen. there are 42volst coming out of the charger, and the outer terminals on the battery have 36 volts on them.
I suspect it has gone into sleep mode. does anyone have the correct instructions showing how to get it out of sleep mode?
Help in the matter will be greatly appreciated

If the battery has a button to press to see the charge level, press it and hold it pressed for at least ten seconds.

Then release it and try charging it again.

Hi Flecc. Tried that many times but did not work. Am posting photos of the bike and battery to help anybody who has seen this model to see what I am talking about. I did manage to get it to light up the LEDs on the handgrip controller at one point and put some charge into it and went for a test ride. Thinking it was low on charge, I put it back on and left it for a couple of hours. Now it will not do anything. It has 36 volts on the battery's outer terminals. I have checked for water ingress in the battery controller mounted on the frame, but that is fine. Looks as new. Is it a BMS fault? or has it gone into a deep sleep? I am reluctant to go inside the Battery itself if there is nothing wrong with it. I have viewed all the info on You Tube about battery faults. This one is sealed inside blue plastic, so unable to do any voltage tests unless I cut the plastic open, which as I say, I do not want to do if it is only the correct method of getting it out of sleep mode. Anybody out there know the correct way to do this?

Fully charged it should be in the range of 41.5 - 42v . One can only assume either a cell group is very low and doesn't allow the BMS to switch on to allow the charge process or the BMS may have an issue it self.
Tbh the battery needs to be opened and some voltages taken, if the battery is shrink wrapped then one has no choice but to remove it to access the BMS.

Hi Neal, thanks for your concise opinion of the problem. I agree with you. the only way to do tests is to get inside it. I really value your input and am thinking it can only be a faulty BMS or cells. Will let you know how I get on .
