Definitely attractive on the surface, but I don't like e-bikes with integrated batteries. When the replacemnt time comes, they have you over a barrel on price, and there's been the odd occasion where model discontinuation has meant no batteries at all a year or two later.

I like that Broese motor, much more than Bosch, Impulse and Yamaha. It's very, very well designed. Then there is the clever BMS, the good integration of the battery into the frame and the very reasonable price.
Perfect score from me.

I think that now that there are companies specialised in re-celling battery packs your worries may be lesser founded.

If I had the money to buy a factory made bike this one would definitely get a test ride because of the brose motor and the possibility of having a double chainring on front.

BH for me is a good choice because they are "just down the road" in case of problems. The S. Sebastain dealer is about 31 km from here.

It's probably the prettiest crank drive bike.....until you look more closely

Having highlighted that, the stock photos maybe of a pre production model, but I would want to see it in the flesh before parting with a sizeable chunk of cash.

I can't say the rice is reasonable. For that price haibike has better components on a bosch or yamaha motor with minimal differences. In addition BH and their customer service in my mind is not very good. When initially was thinking of one of their bikes I never ever got a reply from Spain on customer service email correspondence.

Which Haibike has a double chain ring? In the Basque Country it is a useful option. The concerns about customer service expressed here on the forum pushed me to go and visit the shop in S. Sebastian this Autumn, I came away with a very good opinion after speaking to the manager. The problems people have had seem to be with the English distributor? I don't have issues with after sales because I would be dealing directly with the LBS which is an official factory outlet.

And the bikes I saw were very well built. OK the Shimano gear mounted is not top of the range but general build quality is the same as Orbea.

Loads of them do. In fact, probably every model that is fitted with the Yamaha motor.

If it were a choice of Haibike or BH. I'd take the Haibike any day of the week.

Reported software issues with Brose motors*, and from my experience very poor UK support, would and has put me off ever wanting to ever own another. Component spec is a tougher one, as there is no second option given for comparison.

The one and only plus for me, is that I do love the discreet integrated battery look of BH bikes. But unless the battery is removable and a spare can be carried easily, then I'd sooner have ugly and practical.

John, that cover was the first thing to hit me when I saw the photo. Very poor attention to detail and finish.

*An aspect that may or may not now be resolved, but a quick search shows that they have updated things, so only time will tell.

Possibly, but I reserve judgement on that until these recelling companies have lasted for a while. We've had successions of them over the years, none have lasted and the jobs they did were more often than not very poor with short subsequent lives.

Here we go off topic.. Have you come across this company before? https://www.facebook.com/evmadrid1 Not something that I begin to claim to have the first bit of knowledge about, but to me as an uneducated person, their work always looks very neat and tidy.

Thanks Eddie, I wasn't aware of them and was posting mainly about UK experience with failed recellings and failed recelling companies.

On one of my support websites I used to include recelling options, but eventually discontinued that due to company after company disappearing necessitating constant updates, and their work failing anyway.

he should use plastic spacers to load the cells in. Glue can't stop fire burning through the cell skin even when the cells are well protected.

OK all the ones I have seen here were bosch I didn't know they did Yamaha

So comparing with SDURO trekking which is the same price - 500 Wh BH vs 400 Wh Haibike that is 25% more. And the cells are Samsung, Haibike doesn't say which cells it uses.

I noticed that he also has a YouTube channel. I could watch for hours.
The Kalkhoff-BMZ battery internals look like they could be a bit difficult to recell, depending on how all the plastic elements etc are stuck together:
