Quite like the revised Van Moof X3. Good security features. But a little tall, built for tall Dutch, and shame the battery doesn't lift out like the Fazua system.
There was a mention in The Guardian yesterday from one of the VanMoof founders saying his prices will need to go up (Click Here):
Taco Carlier, the joint founder of the fast-growing electric bicycle company VanMoof, whose main base is close to Amsterdam, told the Observer Brexit had been anything but good for business. The UK was now a huge market but prices of his e-bikes to customers here would have to rise. “Overall the export costs [to the UK] have gone up and the shipping efficiencies have gone down,” said Carlier. “It [Brexit] is definitely a bad thing because our company is less efficient now, so in the end we have to raise prices a bit for customers and that is not what we want.
I did pass a bloke recently on a bike similar to the VanMoof X's, which I thought was a VanMoof because it had a similar straight cylindrical top-tube with front and rear lights embedded into either end of it. It turned out in discussion to be from another Danish brand called "Stroem". The guy bought it in an Indiegogo funding round for £800. Seemed stylish and fair value for what he paid, but a little mediocre from a fitments point of view (cable discs, only 7-speed gearing, 10Ah battery etc). But it does broadly seem quite similar in design to VanMoof (but cheaper). Stroem pics below. Any thoughts?
