Using another brand controller with bafang bbs01 mid driv 250/350w?

Hi,

Due to it being more difficult to source a replacement Is it possible to save money and use a separate controller for powering the bafang mid drive unit. I guess some of extra features of newer controllers also appeal-gear sensor compatibility, bluetooth,etc

I've connected my battery up incorrectly and blew the controller. It is clear which are the hall sensor cable and which are the motor phase wires but need to check what the other 4 or so wire connector block does (PAS perhaps) and whether other controllers support this? many thanks in advance. It's possible, but you'd lose the facility to program the controller with the Bafang software, which is fairly essential IMHO.

Green Bike Kit do a replacement controller with the gear sensor, but you'd have to double check fitment, depending how old your BBS01 is.

The other 4 wire connector is for the PAS, but as most generic controllers only use 3 wire PAS, I'm not certain how you would get round this. BMSBattery sell the 36v 250w and 350w controllers for the older model BBS.
