As the "street legal" offering would it be the G520 as that looks very decent?The kit comes with the mounting bracket to be welded to any frame but I will have to choose snow bikes or MTBs.
Strange ,same here bbs01 350w. I also fitted a second battery recently,total 30ah. Get 40 miles with settings at 20amp & 100 % keep current. I love the kit,but still wanted more.Have just put a bbshd on a marin bobtail trail mtb. Ive got a samsung 30q 15ah 52v battery. To answer your questions. It will climb hills like uve only dreamed. Ive programmed mine so on pas 2 its giving 13amps.Which with 52v & 60% k current is equivelent to the bbs01 on max. Ive found with using mostly 23-30amp power levels.No restricting speed and lots of hills a range of 20miles.Im using mtb tyres,42t chainring an mostly 15t-17t. Ive had 25miles using pas 3 ,17-18amps with plenty of 30amp on hilly stretches.Hi guys,
I recently converted a specialised crosstrail disc 700c hybrid bike using a BBS01 kit 350 W. It has plenty of speed on the flats and I can usually get up to about 26 or 27 mph on a good day. I do find it a bit gutless on bigger hills though. I have modified the controller settings using software and the programming cable so it is operating at 100% keep current and 20 V which is the maximum permitted for this particular motor. Given this, I was wondering whether to upgrade to the BBSHD model as this would give me a good boost up the hills and it would be nice for 30 mph on the flat, I’m not really that bothered about exceeding this. It would also be good if this model can be detuned if necessary to provide similar power to the BBS01 if I need additional range. With my current motor, I have two batteries but with the maximum settings I’m lucky to get 35 miles out of the two. The batteries were sourced from eclipse, 13.5ah 36v. How would the BBSHD compare roughly in terms of battery usage?
Also, is the fitting kit identical to the BBS01? I was thinking I could just swap over the motors and the battery housing and leave all the cabling.
Any thoughts?

Do it...I went bbs01 350w ,36v first time because price. 10 months later Experience shows i just should have bought a bbshd and a big AH 52v from the start. On a good mtb Its a dream set up for anything. Lets be honest ,would anyone ever choose a 250w motor if 1000w motors became legal.You are right Kirstin. It won’t be cheap at all but hopefully it’ll keep me happy for a few years!

I will ride my 52v 15ah flat using the 13amps setting only.Equivelent to the bbs01 350w maxed out and post the range .Add 15 % then for a 52v 17.5ah. You can get one of those from electron cycles .It has the higher capacity GA cells.Costs £475 but with the bbshd kit its total £1025. They chuck gear and hydraulic brake sensors in as well and the dcp 14 display.Must say the 30q battery i bought from them is very solidly made. I think ud be best getting 52 over 48.Maximum power and voltage towards the end is higher of course than the 48v is providing.Less sag.Thanks for the info minexplorer. I was wondering how much difference there would be between the 48v and 52 v batteries in terms of performance/range? I was tempted to get the 48 V 17ah battery from insat with Panasonic cells but they also do a 52 V version although it is around £100 more. Also, what sort of range would you get at the setting equal to the BBS01 on full power with that capacity of battery ?

I’m considering two different batteries, the first one is from electron cycles:
14S5P 52v17.5Ah (Samsung 35Q cells
The second one is from Insat
52v 17.5Ah Panasonic NCR18650GA Tiger Shark
Both are 17.5ah, which one is the best to buy?

30Q is a 3000mah cell so 5P can only be 15ah (5 x 3000 = 15000mah/15ah).
GA although sold as 3500mah cell, it's real world mah is about 3300 so 16.5ah.
Cell resistance is said to be higher then most so may affect long term life with voltage sag becoming more evident as it age's.
Both cells are among the five best 18650's available.
30Q is 15/20a rated and GA is 10a rated but has shown it can handle 12a.
