Hi,

I have been browsing this forum for a while now and find it a great source of information.

My question is, I have been looking around and the conversion kits you can buy in the UK are really expensive when compared to ordering from somewhere like BMSbattery. I dont like the idea of ordering from China, does anybody know of suppliers in the UK that would be able to supply a 500w kit for less than £500?

Thanks

Aaron

Well 8FUN and Alien, Juicy etc can supply you with a legal 250W rated kit all of which will produce peak powers in excess of 500W in use, do you really need a so called 500W kit? Alien have 'off-road' kits but cost a fair bit more than £500.

I had a go on a 250w bike, a lifecycle one. It just didn't have enough power so would like something with more punch.

Hi bigdazza, welcome to the Forum.

The majority of UK supplied kits on the market with two notable exceptions are manufactured in China and are subject to 20% VAT and 6% Import Duty plus various other costs before they are 'landed' or delivered to the supplier.
The UK supplier then has to make some profit and provide warranty and backup.

These are some of the reasons UK supplied kits are more expensive than buying from eBay or BMS battery.

The two exceptions that I mentioned are BionX and Heinzmann which are well over double the figure you mention, in fact a 37v 9.6Ah Bionx battery alone costs £1,049 compared to the equivalent eZee 37v 10Ah FP battery at £385.

Buy my 250w Bafang motor and controller ;-)
Controller can be programmed to offer up to 8 times more than a standard kit

Then try another 250W bike with a higher rated controller, power is related to how many amps the controller will allow the motor to pull, don't make a judgement on just one bike. I would say 15amps minimum or 18 is better, 18amps will give you approx. 500w at the motor after losses.

Have you looked at home SRP is £699, 250w brushless, 36v lithium battery, 15.5mph restricted, or 24mph deristricted by adjusting the wiring internally for off road use. 01761 453198 is their number.

Kind Regards

An eZee kit is better VFM, plus it is tried and trusted, but then I would say that wouldn't I;)

Just to clarify Peter's comment the batteries supplied as standard with eZee kits are 37v.

48v eZee batteries are an option and proving very popular in North America, as a result they are in short supply to the rest of the world.

They take the already powerful eZee kit to another level.

I have used one on private farmland in the UK and also in China, all I can say is:eek:
