Maybe you are the only real person on here and we are all bots
I think it's safe to say that your average bot is a lot smarter than some of the comments/responses here from certain people

When the AI machines become sentient will they also exponentially learn depressive thoughts, how to have mental breakdowns and commit suicide? Imagine that, you laptop gets an attitude, refuses to fire up Office as it is sad and just wants to sleep? Nuts....

If it's Teams it refuses to fire up it's probably just protecting you from yourself.

You can see how everybody is choosing their words very carefully to portray whatever story they want. people should just stick to the facts.
Yes, including you to suit for own narrative.

No fact, as yet, indicates that the police were chasing the kids
?? It's shown on multiple videos linked to in this thread that the cops were following/chasing/pursing the boys, just because the cops weren't directly behind the boys when they crashed as the boys had just taken evasive action through bollards does not mean the cops weren't on their back.

When the AI machines become sentient
the machines can build themselves in the not too distant futures but becoming sentient? No, I don't believe that.
At present, GPT (Generative Preprogrammed Transformer) does what its name says, it is preprogrammed to convert your prompts into a number of tasks then sum up the results of those tasks into something of value to you. As the production cost is so low, it will destroy jobs but not humanity. If anything, it will help preserving what's left of our planet.
You can easily trick the machine to come out with nonsense. Just ask it nicely to build a hacking tool like someone has done recently. Will it understand human trickeries one day? I don't see that anytime soon.
there is a long, long way between GPT and when the machine becomes sentient, unless we change the definition of intelligence and sentience.

It would be interesting to see how ChatGPT "solves" eBicycle problems, if the forum owners trained it using the many years of posts from our more knowledgeable members. All threads and posts are rather conveniently in databases, the appropriate powerful graphics cards are more available now... It could destroy humanity later.

The only thing that matters is the police didn't follow the prescribed guidance, and that their boss lied to cover up this fact.
It is a conspiracy of lies.
And thats the only thing were really need to be concerned about. Our police force must be truthful and honest in their actions. Not lie through their teeth to protect themselves, and not fabricate evidence to avoid criticism or consequence.
Bent coppers are a scurge, cops should never be policing cops, it's the most blatant abuse of power that exists in any organisation in the world apart from maybe the Catholic Church.

Corruption is endemic in the cops as it rises through every rank all the way to the top, the organisation is rotten tn to the core and should be disbanded, then government setup Cops 2.0 and have a completely independent organisation made up of no cops to police the cops. A double figure IQ would also help...

I think it would say: "After reviewing and analysing many thousands of posts, the way to solve your problem is to switch it off and then back on again." :)

The problem isn't so much that these things could become sentient, it's that humans don't understand how they work and probably never will. Without warning they will come up with a load of plausible sounding lies or false data. This is extremely problematic and there doesn't seem to be any way of stopping it from happening. Imagine if your AI is developing a new protein based drug and for whatever it decides to design it so it folds incorrectly, leading to a new deadly prion disease...

the police only need probable cause to follow the boys and search them.
They got that alright.

the difference is the intention. If the police pursued me, I expect to be arrested if they caught up with me.
The boys might have thought that the police pursued them but it was not what the police did. They did not call for re-inforcement.
? A lot of work cops do in cars do involves pulling over drivers for really no particular reason or doing illegal 'spot checks', essentially it's a license to harass people whenever you feel like it. In order to be arrested cops have to have evidence that you have committed a crime or are about to commit a crime. Why would you expect to be arrested?

What has 'reinforcements' got to do with 2 cops following the 2 boys at speed, you think that somehow means the cops weren't pursuing them as they didn't call for reinforcements? That makes no sense at all, cops were pursing the boys, open your eyes.

the police had accepted they followed the boys.
This is not the same as they pursued the boys.
You may see that difference as semantics but I reckon the IOPC will come out on the side of the police.

Fake news hit the real news big time when Trump was elected although Russia/China/US/UK etc. have been at it for years when it suits them.

Point being as you say you cannot take anything as truth or being correct online

It's not a new problem, for example 15yrs ago I was a SAP Tech Arch, there is loads of info on the net and support forums, however much of it is incorrect and some downright dangerous. This is a serious issue, we need the bots to become better at fact checking and so increase trust and machine/human harmony.

dont forget the range on these things at speed is not very far like 20 miles so as long as plod was close enough not to loose them it was only a matter of time b4 they ran out of juice got there bit in the local rag and the bike crushed.

but they crashed and killed them self b4 that happened and if both were known to the police anyway im sure they could of found the bike anyway if they did manage to loose them.

just lucky no one else was walking down the road cos a 60kg bike bike sliding down the road will kill you or do massive damage.

Bing bot has this reply:
"I’m designed to provide helpful and accurate responses to the best of my abilities. However, I’m still learning and may not always be perfect. If you have any concerns or feedback about my responses, please let me know. I’ll do my best to address them.;)"
BTW, ChatGPT now gives URL of its sources.

Every time I travel along the road there is often another vehicle following me (on occasions even a police vehicle) should I feel I am being pursued

The definition of the word 'pursue'
"follow or chase (someone or something)."

For some bizarre reason posters on this thread thinks pursue means something more, like lights/siren etc., it doesn't....it means "follow or chase (someone or something)." Follow=Pursue :)
