Hi all,

any idea what I could have done wrong when changing the blue gear to mean the motor whines really loudly now?!

many thanks

Did you lob a load of grease in there or lubricate at all ?

I hope the grease you ordered was synthetic based not oil based as the latter softens up the plastic gear wheels which then split. Happened to me. I use Mobil Mobilith now and not great dollops as it sticks to the gears and does not get flung off as the original Chinese stuff was. Much cleaner too.

Mineral oil is said to be compatible with plastics. Even semi-synthetic Molykote pg-75 has mineral oil. The original 150°C NLGI1 Molykote em-50l is said to have better noise reduction properties, while 130°C NLGI2 Molykote pg-75 is said to have lower friction.
