TSDZ2 & VLCD5 settings saving?

Hi all,

new to the forum having recently converted my Vitus Nucleus with a 500w 48v TSDZ2 with a 15ah 48v rack mounted battery and VLCD5 display.

So far so good, I’ve only done about 10 miles to test it, but all seems to work as it should.

One thing that is bugging me however is the fact that when I power cycle the system, any changes I’ve made to the settings on the VLCD5 display are lost and it is reset to factory settings. Is this standard? Or am I supposed to leave the battery on and connected permanently?

Am I missing something?

Thanks In advance

If you mean configuration settings like wheel diameter they should stay when powered off, so either the display is faulty or you have missed a step in the setting process. Things like last power may not be permanent. Are the odometer and trip values resetting ?

The display should keep the settings.

It was everything resetting to factory defaults - odometer and all - the first couple of times I used it. Funnily enough it remembered my settings when in got on it this morning.
Will remove battery to charge overnight so we’ll see if the problem persists

If the issue persists then the display or controller has a glitch, the TSDZ has many faults but it is still a favourite amongst users for three reasons.
1. It is a TS system, liked by many.
2. Complete spares are widely available.
3. OSF programmable with option of a few displays.

To show how glitchy controllers are, a user on the German forum wasn't able to connect his controller to OSF though is worked as normal. Another controller was sourced and it connected first time out to OSF.

Looking at this Endless Sphere post HERE, it is said that their are two controller versions in circulation (referred to as OLD and NEW) with the comment that the NEW controller does not work with OSF.

Maybe the German forum member's problem was because of this? Anyway, it is something to be aware of for any potential TSDZ2/OSF users who experience the same.

Further down in the link there is a method given on how to test for which controller you have.

Interesting, from the comments it is not clear whether the problem is that you cannot program the new controller with the OSF software or whether it will not operate once programmed. From the later comments I would guess that you cannot program the OSF software since they reference a change to the state of one of the programming inputs on the controller. Also, I would of thought that any change in the protocol between display and controller would mean a change in the display as well.

The voltage yes is a simple one to see which version one has.
