Hi,
l‘ve had a tsdz2 (36v 250w with vlcd5 display) for 4 years now and have done about 1300miles (so it’s not used too much). It was working fine a couple of days ago but today when I used it I have the following problem when trying to change assist levels (using either the vlcd5 or remote control):
I can only change up from eco to tour but not to speed or turbo.
i can change down from tour to eco but I can then not go back up to tour.
i can change down from eco to no power but can then not go back up to eco.

The only way I can get assist back is to power the battery off then on. I can’t power off using the display.
I am getting the appropriate assist level so the motor is working but just cant increase the assist level above tour.

Could this be a problem with the vlcd5 display or the motor controller?

Thanks,
Ian.

I think I can simulate the situation you describe by permanently holding down one of the '+' (plus) buttons, so I reckon you have a stuck '+' button either on the display or on the handlebars. In the first instance, I would plug out the extension cable under the display that connects the handlebar buttons to the display and see does your bike work with just the buttons on the display.

Yes that appears to have been my problem. I removed the remote and the +/- on the display now work correctly. I had replaced the remote a while ago as the + stopped working on it but the display buttons were uneffected that time…

Annoyingly I have a spare but the +/- don’t work on it, though the display buttons still works ok. It also doesn’t work on my wife’s tdzs2 either so I guess it’s just a dud remote.

Thanks a lot for your help.
