The shape of the frame rules out a bottom bracket crank motor, so the only practical option is a rear hub motor which can combine with the derailleur gears.

That can be mated to a rear mounted carrier battery,

You can get the whole package for that from Cyclezee, who market the very powerful eZee motor that's ideally suited to that heavy load.

An alternative is the Chinese BPM-CST motor, and I'm sure others will have further suggestions.

Are you sure the mid motor won't fit in between the two bars? Or underneath?

OK so maybe. Why not put the battery in the cargo box out of sight and out of the way? Yes long wires mean energy loss so just make them very thick.

a crank drive 8-Fun BBS01/BBS02 is the simplest solution.

We have a Velo Electrique cargo bike, which is fantastic. It runs a standard rear wheel drive kit with a battery on rear rack, though you could place the battery under the seat in the cargo area. Just be aware not to put too much strain on from the off, get it moving with your legs first.
