Sorry I'd read taken the thread heading and the earlier quote about "crank driving through the gears stresses the running gear more then a hub driven bike" to mean that the other comments were about the derailleur Kalkhoff.

And Aldby I had tried Wax, but I think it needed applying too regularly in the wet and windy weather where I live, so I'm now on one of those Oils with Teflon in it.
