Hi
Does anyone claim travel expenses at work when using e-bike?

My employer pays 45p a mile for a car and I was going to approach about travelling by e-bike.

Lol....I don't think the revenue will agree. Also no expenses are paid for travelling to and from your place of work.

presumably, his travel expenses are for short trips in working hours.
Like I'd claim for going to the post office every day on my bike.

yes, I do but I wouldn't claim anyway even using my own bike (I have 6), the post office is 0.2 mile, a return trip is 0.35 mile, 15p per day, 75p a week.

Depreciation is the biggest cost. If you look at most of the bikes in the classifieds section and work out what the total cost was to the seller (cost of purchase of the bike and extras minus selling price) and divide that by the number of miles done, the number is usually greater than £1 per mile

Aye same as a car that way but in actual money spent daily after the initial cost of the bike it's costing you pennies per day to charge the battery,no road tax,insurance or mot required by law to use the bike.

Real world cost for someone who rides a bit: 0.14 GBP/mile (I did the conversions for once) the host bike was an attic find so 0 €.

My employer pays 11p / mile for using a bicycle to travel on company related business. There is a maximum mileage limit per journey, which I suppose is intended to prevent someone being out on their bicycle for all of the working day.

My work never paid expenses for daily commute.

HMRC approved Mileage Allowance Payment for a bike is 20p per mile.
