I've decided to risk the saris bones 2 with mine. My ebike is also 17kg. So far have had it on the back 3 times for 20 miles, with most of that being 70-80 down the dual carriageway. So far no problems. the bike seems to move side to side a bit over the bumps, but I'm quite confident the bike the bike is secure. Will update if I get any problems, but so far so good.

I use two Thule 591's. One for my GF's normal bike and the other for my 24kg Kalkhoff. I have a battery cover and remove the battery before traveling which brings it down to around the spec'd 20kgs. It's a bit of a pig to hoist mine up if you're on your own but not too hard if you're strong enough.

I've done hundreds of miles with this configuration and both bikes have always felt completely secured.

I've carried 2 x 17kg normal bikes on a Halfords rear hatch carrier as well on my Thule roof carriers all over the north west Inc motorways and lots of hills with no problems so I think 1 x 20kg e bike shouldn't be a problem, as long as I can lift it up. One of those fold up long platforms should help.
