May 20, 20169 yr I am seriously wondering why I am paying, albeit a nominal amount, to be an official trade member? On a daily basis I see threads with posts by Non Trade members that are little more than covert advertising by someone who has an "association" with a specific company. I am hoping that Admin will convince me that it is worth my while to be a trade member. Maybe I should revert to being a non trade member, use my original ID of Aldby, pay nothing and simply have the tagline something like "While this is a personal user account, the Aldby account has an association with Cyclezee"?
May 20, 20169 yr It does have its advantages of allowing product releases in the electric bicycle forum and promoting product in the introduction forum;)
May 20, 20169 yr I think setting an honest and transparent tone is important. You do and people can see that. I'm sure it is appreciated and to your credit.

May 20, 20169 yr John, are you talking about my posts? if you do, which posts are covert advertising?
May 20, 20169 yr I think setting an honest and transparent tone is important. You do and people can see that. I'm sure it is appreciated and to your credit. Sure Bob, but it doesn't seem to be a level playing field.
May 20, 20169 yr John, are you talking about my posts? if you do, which posts are covert advertising? See my previous post.
May 20, 20169 yr Woosh support the forum by paying £29/month John. I haven't mentioned Woosh Helen? (Admin note: There is only one admin note with the specific wording you put in your opening post.) Edited May 20, 20169 yr by HelenJ
May 20, 20169 yr john, if you want that thread removed, just say so. I have no objection. To me, it's just a bit of technical info. Is there anything else you want removed too?

May 20, 20169 yr john, if you want that thread removed, just say so. Is there anything else you want removed too? I'm not asking for the removal of any threads, all I am asking for is honesty when it comes to membership status. I think I have made my point clearly and unambiguously.
May 20, 20169 yr http://pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/looking-for-a-bike.24270/ is it just one particular post?
May 20, 20169 yr I'm not asking for the removal of any threads, all I am asking for is honesty about when it comes to membership status. I think I have made my point clearly and unambiguously. so you don't want me to start any thread in the future about a new woosh bike because of my association?
May 20, 20169 yr is it just one particular post? Seriously, that made me laugh out loud. so you don't want me to start any thread in the future about a new woosh bike because of my association? See post No.12 above, that is all I am going to say on the matter.....for now.
May 20, 20169 yr It would devalue the site for everyone if all posts could not be accepted as honest. Honesty starts with a signature. Anything else is an attempt to dupe, and allowing that devalues the site. Edited May 20, 20169 yr by JuicyBike
May 20, 20169 yr Bob, why do you have to express yourself in such a convoluted way? if you want to imply that I attempt to dupe anyone, just say so positively and stand by your view.
May 20, 20169 yr is it just one particular post? http://pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/looking-for-a-bike.24270/#post-307018 No welcome, outside OP's requirements and use of "association" to allow propriety graphics which would not be normally allowed without source permission, as opposed to my counter posting in the thread. Edited May 21, 20169 yr by shemozzle999
May 20, 20169 yr point taken about no welcome and propriety graphics. However, the source permissions are implied in the GPL or common youtube/google models though. If the source is indexed by google, deep linking (http://wooshbikes.co.uk/2016/santana2/santana2-2000.jpg) rather than downloaded and uploaded is permissible though. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-26187730 The information on the web page can be cited for educational use. "The way we communicate online is predicated on sharing material, whether that's links to Robert Peston on Bank of England interest rates, decisions of the European court or pictures of otters who look like Benedict Cumberbatch," the recommended bike (santana2) fulfils all the requirements set out by the OP, height, frame style, motor power, battery range and has the smallest deviation from the budget (£79). May 20, 20169 yr The answer to me is to have two accounts, a Trade account and a private account. If as a Trade member you post anything that can be considered as an advert, then Trade membership covers it. Opinions, general banter etc. are covered by your private membership. The problem is when a genuinely private member wants to tell everyone about the fantastic XYZ bike he has just bought, but because he does not have a trade connection, it is allowed, although in a sense it is advertising. Poor old EddieO used to drive me mad with his constant praising of the latest German bike and rubbishing of anything Chinese, to the point that I suspected that he was German. But, he was just an enthusiast, who really liked German bikes and wanted to tell us all about them.
May 20, 20169 yr Exactly my point, maybe you should consider editing all the posts where this has occurred - - might take you a while though;)
May 20, 20169 yr I think a good point has been made here. If a person is posting in the capacity of representing a product manufacturer or retailer, then that should be done under a trade account. General advice, banter and questions are fine under a personal account. I don't believe anything had been done with the intent to deceive or to be in anyway disingenuous, but mixing trade posts with personal posts will always cause issues.
May 20, 20169 yr this thread comes about because of my posts about the new woosh Bermuda that I helped to make. that's mean, don't you think?
May 20, 20169 yr this thread comes about because of my posts about the new woosh Bermuda that I helped to make. that's mean, don't you think? no ... personally I think, if you're working for the brand, which in this case you clearly are then you need a trade account. or, if your posting about trade stuff, don't do it with your personal account, get Woosh to do it.
