Paul,

Have you used the lights before or is this a new fault? If you've used them before then its unlikely to be the earthing at the lights and more likely to be something in the electronics box on the handlebars. Either way it must be a bit annoying to find it at the end of the journey.

Might it also be a nick somewhere along the +ve cable between switch and lights that is earthing to the frame when the lights are switched on ?

I know that the wire to the tail lamp is routed close to the rear wheel nut, and quite easy to scrunch when removing the wheel.

Anyway, it is easy to temporarily remove those lamp bolts to isolate the frame for a check.

HI chaps

The light have worked flawlessly since I took deleivery in November and they have been in use constantly given the time of year.

I will have time to try some of the suggestions over the weekend (hopefully under the watchful eye of Eddy the sparks!) and look forward to sharing the results.

Thanks again for all your help

Paul

Sorry to vary the senario slightly but i have a question....what happens if the light were to go out but the power remains? What would this indicate is wrong with the electrics?

Well I went to the garage on Sunday ready to perform open heart surgery on the bike. Eddy the electrician was on standby. I turn the key and everything lights up. I turn on the lights and everything remains lit up. I go for a 5 mile test ride with the lights on and everything is fine. I have used it every day this week and its still all good.

I can only guess that perhaps there was some water ingress into the system that caused some sort of short.

I have left well alone for now and am happy to be cycling once more.

Thanks for all the assistance folks. its appreciated

Regards
Paul
