Thats good Jerry, no broken parts. The worst part of dismantling them is getting the cover off. Once you have done that everything else is straightforward. But I wonder where the noise was coming from??
One thing i did while mine was stripped down was to tighten the axles shaft to the motor housing. I had some screws that were loose.

Thanks mkc1.

As I said I am not sure. Now its all back together and working it makes the same low whirring sound on freewheel that it made when I first got it. I think one of the springs may have slipped and was rubbing on the inside of the out freewheel ring, where it pushes the wedges up against the outer freewheel ring ?

Examining it I am assuming that that is what is inside the freewheel behind the springs ?

Anyway I will ride it for a few days and see what happens.

PS Should also add when I spin the wheel on freewheel, it seems to spin more freely and for longer.

PPS Just saw your comment about the screws on the shafts which I did not check though I did not notice either shaft to be loose. I will check that when I strip it down again later.

Regards

Jerry

Ok not the clearest pictures but it should help give you an idea.

Inside hub once outer plate and freewheel are removed.

You can just about make out the three steel rollers. Lots of red grease. The freewheel plate shown below, goes on this locating via two steel pins into the holes on the outer ring above shown at 10 and 4 oclock.

Freewheel plate after I had cleaned it all out with WD40 and before I regreased it.

The two pins that stick up can be seen at 10 and 4 oclock on the outer ring, but again a little blurry. You can also make out the springs which were shown in mkc1's picture as well. These hold/push little wedges I think which slot into the outer ring. The springs were fine and where not dislodged or bent.

Other side of the freewheel showing the holes/threads that the outer casing plate screws go into.

The motor taken out of the casing.

Later I will take it apart again as I want to shorten the long shaft and cut off some of the roller brake fitting. I will then post better pictures. I will also post a picture of the tool we are making to help remove the housing cover plate.

Rode to work this morning and everything seems ok so far.

Jerry

Great pictures, Jerry and nice to know that you got your motor running again! Certainly makes more clear what to expect find inside if I ever need to open my motor...

My build is progressing also, the motor is on the fork already, only the connections between the motor and controller are missing before testdrive.
