Tongsheng ‘A’ menu setting

I have tried to find a clear explanation of the purpose of the ‘A’ setting on my VLCD5 list of menu options.
I have just installed a 500w TSDZ2 with a 13ah LG Hailong battery on my Boardman MX Sport.
Some people claim it controls the maximum amperage the motor can draw.
Others say, (including the Woosh VLCD5 manual), that it is an assist level setting.
Mine is set to 16 out of the box.
Can I / Should I change this for more boost to help with all the hills around my area.
Thanks & Merry Christmas.

The display manual calls it the "Power adjustment Selection". I have always assumed it is max current but the range seems to be 6 - 35 with a default of 25 ( mine was set to 16) so unlikely to be current directly but it should alter the power delivered. Give it a go with a small increment and see what happens.

I have changed the A value to 4, then 8, then 32 at different times, on a 250W 36v TSDZ2 supplied by PSWpower and there is no apparent difference.
There is some speculation on endless sphere that this facility has been disabled in the controller (but not in the VLCD5) at the request of some suppliers to prevent damage/warranty claims.
