Yeah I think LiFePO is considered generally the safest Li tech. Headways are sturdy and well protected. 10C is their rating but 3-5C is apparently what you really get without bad sag.
Overcharging any batt is dangerous. The RC balance chargers ensure each cell never goes above 3.6V and balances them all at the same level. Normal bulk chargers would be dangerous with no BMS, unmonitored. I went without a BMS (some call them 'battery murdering systems'!) of variable quality deciding to be my own BMS... But this is contentious. Time will tell. RC lipo occasionally spontaneously combusts for whatever reason.

I also dont use a BMS, have been trying to work out how to use a cellog8 (with loads of brilliant help from Dave d8veh) so this would shut the system down before damaging the cells on a long run. Ive never got it below 26.5 volts yet on 15 mile runs. The old lipo would of spat its dummy out by then ;)

Has anyone else noticed straight after a run a couple of cells might be slightly down but then after a short rest they all settle out again?

Yep I've noticed that. Prob a 'weaker' cell or two which is then pumped up by its mates? I've read LiFePo holds it's V till the end then falls off a cliff. I set my cheapo alarms for 3V knowing if one sounds continuously I need to get back quickly.

Are Eclipse actually selling ready-made batteries? I waited for ages for the 'currently out of stock' sign to disappear on their site but it never did and is still there. Enquired also - but never came back to me. That's why I went DIY with their stock. Had good comms over that.
