I'm impressed with your technical understanding and critique.
I realise that quality of components and construction, are insignificant if it looks like a granny bike.

It's legal steady power from a natural control system with easy mainance.with a good sized battery. It will easily cover the mileage she needs. In comfort. Front suspension forks and seat, mudguards and rack. Good lights hub gears. A top bike that will last for years.
It would be a bit ** at down hill racing cross country and jumps. but I suspect if she wants to go jumping there are horses for that.

I am with D8ve on this, good looks only attract the wrong kind of attention. Judging by the number of times I have seen someone new to ebikes trying different bikes in the shops then change their mind from a crossbar to a step through instead of following their initial predisposition toward crossbars - very rarely the other way round, I think you should at least test ride a step-through before commiting. Riding a step through e-bike is very different from riding a step through push bike, it's much more comfortable for a start, step throughs also suit small people. You never need to pedal hard on an e-bike. The sit up riding position is excellent on your back, arms and wrists, you tend to relax, be more aware and less worried of the traffic. BP, you should talk to Hatti @ woosh, ask her if she can put you in touch with someone near you with a step through e-bike.
