I have an Alien Aurora I challenge you to tell me a better bike
What an interesting, reflective and mature post.

What a shame we do not have more serious and thought-provoking posts like this.

Also how long/many miles did it give you transport ?

Regards

Jerry
Probably close to 4000 to be honest. It's not dead, I've not binned it.
Its going down to the engineering firm to have the old bearing removed or if it doesn't move skimmed off.

I will then change the bearings within the motor including the on the motor fits too as well as the axel ones to hopefully better ones. Then see if I can create a better gasket around the cover of the side plate as well as silicone the axel where the wires go in.

Hopefully these little improvements should see the motor complete another 4000 miles. Maybe. Who knows maybe the improvements will have me cycling for another 10k all weather.

I think we all know what the better bike is no matter what guise it appears in.
It has been the best bike for quite a while now and I think will be in the future, even though I've never seen it....
It is the illusive "other" bike.
It is rumored to have an amazing specification.

I did a search for Alien Aurora and it came up with a load of computer boxes.

I prefer my Tonaro Enduro, it does all the things I want it to do.

Obviously, everybody with few exceptions like their own bike. To a certain extent, the type of bike that they like depends upon where they live (Flat or hilly) and whether they are a died in the wool cyclist or a mopedist.
That means that some really need gears, others can do without.
Also, younger and fitter cyclists probably prefer pedelec, but older, fatter, arthritic, limbs missing, semi disabled etc. need a throttle and a minimum of pedalling.
To be a good e-bike, the criteria need to look at resilience.
Can parts be easily obtained?
What if the supplier closes down, can other bits be used instead?
The first thing that comes to my mind is the battery which will definitely need replacement. How costly is it, and how does it connect to the bike?
Fancy slot in connections are OK provided you can get replacements if they burn. Kettle type plugs are easily obtained and replaced.
Odd shaped batteries, batteries within the frame tubes etc. cannot be replaced if the supplier,
a. Goes out of business.
b. ceases to produce that type of battery.
Hub motors are good in that they are easily replaced, not necessarily with original equipment.
Crank drivers and chain pullers are not so good in that they need original equipment replacements.
Reports of frames cracking in half, lead to concerns about single tube step throughs.

Nope, sorry, you're all wrong.

The Freego Eagle is by far the best bike ever, its got a side stand, a stripe down the side and a very neat reflective patch on the rear of the seat, just under where my bum goes.

Beat that then!
