This electric bike has been out quite awhile now...

Hi All,

Has anyone heard of the BUSETTII electric bike? They claim that this bike can travel up to fifty to seventy miles on a single charge. Battery @ 48 volt and will give you two thousand recharge cycles,(a world record) so they say. Check this out on YouTube, if or when you have some spare time.
Also, have you heard any good or bad reviews about this bike, and are they exaggerating about the mileage?

What bike exactly mountainsport - they have about 10 models listed on thier website.

Some of the bikes have 52v 15ah batteries - 50-70miles isn't beyond the realms of possibility with that size battery - 52*15 = 780 watt hours. Assume 11 w/hr @ 15mph that gives 71 miles.

They do just look like generic bikes fitted with generic Chinese kits, so read any review of a Bafang equipped bike and you'll be near enough.

Good morning amigafan,

Sorry for not being specific, I was referring to the Busettii Vortex.

Ok, so 2x 36v 10ah batteries, claimed 60 mile range. So let's break down the numbers:-

36x20 = 720 watt hours.

Assume 11 watt hours per mile @ 15mph.

720/11 = 65 mile range.

Looks to me like they are being truthful about the range claims. Obviously hills and strong winds will change that mileage.

Now here's the kicker - top speed is stated as 32mph. Watt hour usage @ 32 mph will be in the 35 to 40 watt hour range, so lets run those numbers again:-

720/40 = 18 miles.

So yes, if you bumble along @ 15mph yes you'll reach the range estimate, however use it @ it's max speed and you be lucky to see a 3rd of that range.

As for the quality of the bike itself (ignoring the elctrical parts) - it's cheap and nasty - you can get similar bikes for $200 in most Walmart stores in the USA - so you're paying $2000 for an electric conversion.

I'd take a bike from Kudos any day of the week over the Vortex and just get a spare battery if I ever wanted more range.

Well said and also for explaining everything in fine detail, (Doctor Bass will hate you now):p

A point I've been pondering for the past couple of weeks, since trying loads of bikes at the Eden show....

My 8fun kit-equipped bike has a 9ah 36v battery & I get pretty much 30 miles per charge on a pretty even match of hills & flat.

Should the BPM/CST motor in the Kudos & eMotion bikes give similar mileage on their 10ah batteries?

I appreciate it's a more capable motor, but should that mean, in practical terms, it's working less hard at legal speeds, or is it likely to hog more power>

All assuming the pilot can resist the urge to keep lighting the afterburner, of course :p

It really depends on the controller - if it's capable of putting out more amps then it'll consume more power.

If you're getting 30 miles on your current bike you might get 25 miles on a BPM bike if it had the same size battery and top speed. But your journey times will likely be a touch quicker as well (acceleration and hill climbing will be faster even if top speed is unchanged).

I've got a Kudos and 2 batteries and could do over 60 miles if I take both batteries. I live in the hills, they're not the steepest hills but there's so bleeding many of them. Also, I'm a lazy beggar and have been known to let the magic back wheel do most of the work but I'd still get over 60 miles with my 2 batteries. I'm off all week so both batteries should be getting a work-out, weather permitting. :)

I was just wondering a bit more about the 11wh per mile calculation

Is that throttle based or pedelec or a combination of the two?
