Thinking of buying my first e bike, Wisper or Juicybike, any advice please?

As a potential E-bike buyer, I have looked at Wisper and Juicy as my two choices for a Hub Motor bike, just personal preference with no expert knowledge, just looked, read reviews, gleaned from this very helpful site, etc. However I have found the main decision for me to make was Hub Motor or Crank. The Torano Esprit (Crank, Hub Gears) looks to me like a good buy.
Juicy looks to me like the best £ for £ purchase on the hub side, Wispers more expensive but 'better' quality parts. I'd say that Juicy is the better value per £ though. But I am veering toward a Crank... ;-) Thus the suggestion to look at the Torano's.

I am a member of the Tingha and Tucker Club. Although I have not paid my subscription for many years, Jean Morton (Auntie Jean) hasn't notified me that my membership has lapsed, so I must still be a member.

Sarah.....not sure what is your location....I strongly suggest that you go to a dealer who has a number of different style of bikes to try, especially if it is your first electric bike...Kudos has a test track arranged in front of our warehouse where anyone can come, any weekday,to try any bike-we have most styles of hub drive bikes but no crank drives, respect we may not be convenient for you. Please put your location on this site and I am sure we can find a dealer with many test bikes to try.

When I was looking to buy my first E-bike I looked through this forum and all the links to Dealers. I looked at Juicy bikes and thought they looked strange. I looked at wisper and wasn't struck by the look of them, although the company did seem to have a good reputation and did answer peoples problems on here. I managed to try an Alien but they'd stopped doing the model I tried and wanted. Along came Kudos and their range all looked like normal bikes to me but they were way down in South England. So, I did what any prospective customer would do, I bombarded them with questions about measuring the bikes and how did they go up hills and all sorts of stuff. So, I bought the Kudos Tourer without trying it and I love it. However, Kudos now seem to have dealers dotted round the country, even now in Scotland. I suggest you have a look for a dealer and try one for yourself.

I've taken on board everyone's advice about trying plenty of bikes before I buy, it makes a lot of sense. Just been out with the kids to the Monsall trail and a lady kindly let me have a go on her Giant. It's shown me one thing, I really didn't like the motor at the front, its just feels unbalanced and a bit odd to me. I'm quite interested in the crank drive - its not something I had thought about before - I found the power pedals website helpful. I think I almost got my head round torque, which is a first for me.
However, it might sound a bit girly, but it just isn't my style and not being very practical I would prefer to buy from somewhere not too far away.
