Don't just "see what happens". Arrange for a friend to "steal" it, then to fetch it to your shop to fix a puncture.

Then call the newpapers. They never bother to fact-check.

Great bit of advertising for the shop that.... they even got their name mentioned on Radio 2!
Perhaps I should leave our new full suspension Scott out in town for a bit and see what happens? It's worth £2,999.
Did I mention it's worth £2,999?
Martin,

Can you clarify how much that bike is worth and where you will be leaving it:rolleyes:

I'll be cycling the flashy £2,999 bike to Milton keynes and leaving it in the busiest part of town...but only for about 20 mins as it's worth £2,999 and I wouldn't want it to be stolen.

By the way...I will be willing to sell keys and charger should anyone need to get some for some strange reason....call 01299 8u775h1t:)

We've retrieved bikes for a couple of owners this way. I don't recall feeling compelled to get a national newspaper involved though. More fool us, I suppose!

I bought my first ebike from 50 cycles, about 7 or 8 years ago. It was a Forza, and I got a lot of pleasure from it. Paid about £1000.

You wouldn't recognise it now - new battery, new controller, new throttle. When I finished modifying it, I weighed it (weight is important to me, I have to lift it a lot) and was surprised at how light it is, 49 lb, excluding battery. But it's so solid and sturdy!

Its a great 'bit' of PR (even if its poorly written) staged or not, mainstream press and radio 2 exposure of the e-bike market. Because of this very piece of news I sold a bike this morning...can only be good for all of us. Not sure a £695.00 ebike would get the same sort of coverage though.

It might. A) the media are desperate for material to fill up the embarrassing white space between the adverts and B) it would be considered to be "follow-up" story. So get your £695 ebike from Electric Bike Co out there, securely locked up with a secure lock and a secure chain, and get a friend to "borrow" the £695 electric bike.
